Dual Core Support

Enable Dual Core Support for your TF2 now !

Dual Core Support in TF2

This is a tutorial showing you how to enable TF2's Dual Core support. This tweak is not widely known, so I thought I would share it here.

I personally noticed that using these commands my FPS doubled. I had capped my FPS at 125, and it has always stayed around that number whilst I have been playing TF2. As soon as I removed the commands from my autoexec my fps went to around 50-60.

Firstly you are going to have to create an autoexec if you have not already. Click the link opposite to be taken to my How to Apply Scripts in the Source Engine tutorial. Follow the detailed instructions contained and you will be able to create your autoexec with ease.

1. Once you have your autoexec open, copy and paste the commands below into it :

//Dual Core Support

matqueuemode "2" rthreadedrenderables "1" rthreadedparticles "1" rthreadedclientshadowmanager "1" clthreadedbonesetup "1" clthreadedclientleaf_system "1"

2. Now close autoexec.cfg and click Yes to save the changes you have made

3. Go and test it out. See if you can notice an increase in FPS. Bare in mind the effects will vary between computers based on the thousands of variables you can imagine that would be different between one PC and another.

NOTE : It has been reported that using this tweak can make your game crash more then normal, however I have never had this problem. Also I have only tested these commands with an AMD processor, so I don't know how well it performs when using an INTEL processor.

I hope this is helpfull and feel free to pm me if you have any questions or concerns. Also if you have an idea for this tutorial or information based on what's contained in this tutorial please pm me.

    This varies from computer to computer. Some people's set ups, like mine, will have fantastic performance but then sudden lock-ups at the oddest moments. I would leave this command alone for now until multi-core support is patched in, which should probably be in January or February with the Scout Pack.

    As far as i know tf2 can use your dual cores with no extra script at all i got dual cores and when i put in this code it ruined my game and loads of things went wierd

    When i bought my own dual cores didn't add no code and it was much faster when i added this it just went spazzy

    Try disabling some of the commands.
    Like what i have no idea what any of that script means. I mean i understand to what they are alluding to but i wouldn't know which ones to change our to what value.

    To disable them either add 0 where the numerical values are or put // infront of the command in the config.

    Really simple :)
