How do I UV in Blender?

All the tutorials, every single one cuts out the simplest of problems.

And that question is, how the hell do I even open the UV window?

The easiest way is to change the workspace from 'Default' to 'UV Editing' (in the info bar); a different way is to split a window and change it to 'UV/Image Editor' (either top right corner or bottom left corner of any window, drag it any way to create a new window).

Next you mark seams, which is essentially designating gluestrips to edges, so gluing all the strips together would recreate your model; imagine the T plan of a cube:

To do this, select an edge you want to be cut and select 'Mark Seam' from the tool shelf (or search for it with the space bar).

Once that's done, click on the 'Unwrap' button in the toolbox, or press U and select 'Unwrap'; a map should now appear in the UV editor window.

For a slightly more verbal and complete tutorial, refer to this.

Don't worry, I was the best in the class when it came to unwrapping 3D objects, building them, and putting them together. All I need to know is how to open it, I catch on to things like that quickly, but the window is damn elusive. So what bar is the info one?

Oh, and all I need to do is open the UV, none of that "Do this to make a UV" stuff, it already has one. I just need to edit it slightly so it won't give me those black lines.

If you haven't changed the workspace layout at all, it's the topmost bar, but here's how it looks for me:

    Note the highlights.

Topmost part where it says "Default", click on the icon left of it and select 'UV Editing' from the list.

You bake them, it's explained in the '.txt' under material baking.
