if you combine a model, with a separate texture, do the two mix? or will the textures be fucked up?

If you make sure you match the directories in VTFEdit and whatever you use to go in the model's coding (XVI32, for example), it will work, the texture will be a bit odd. You'd have to edit the texture in Photoshop or whatever to match the proportions.

As long as you assign the appropriate texture files to the model pieces in what you are working with (for example, let's say you have a scope model that you attached to a rifle and they both use separate texture files), then there shouldn't be any issues. Just make sure you list the appropriate directory(ies) for your textures in the .qc before compiling.
