TF2: Realism Project

By tom 1 year ago

Hi Gents,

I had this idea a while back - not sure if it's already out there or already in development - what do you think about TF2 characters and weapons being re-modelled as gritty, realistic versions? I know the comic feel is so fundamental to TF2, and that there are so many items (and maps) now it would take an eternity to redo all of them, but I still think it'd be amazing to see.

This made me think of it. The Pyro looks a lot less comical here.

Oh and yes I know about the other Team Fortress HL2 mod.

Thoughts?

Everyone's thought of it, enormous project. I'm in love with the idea to be honest.

I like it! It will make the cartoony TF2 seem more mature and realistic. I like the more realistic games, and simply making everything look dirty and worn in, will effect the whole game greatly in a very positive way.

well, i'm sure a lot of people wouldn't like the idea. But! tf classic wasn't meant to be cartoony. so i guess it would hurt to try getting that old feeling in tf2. someone did alreday (brfore tf2 came out) but im not sure if that project is stll alive.

    I just had another thought - imagine L4D2 in TF2-style graphics. :D

I would go play mw3 or cs:go if i want realism. Are you going to remodel all hats and weapons to look not-so-cartoony? Otherwise, lol.

I wouldn't be a fan, personally. The cell shaded style is so core to TF2 it would ruin the experience.

Make a contest where the winner is the one who makes the most realistic item/skin for tf2

I think this is a bad idea since everything tf2 is built around looking cartoony/colourfull.

But never the less a projetc like this would be massive.
