Rigging issues with new Valve compiler?!

Hats not lining up properly when compiled HELPPPP

By Sussy 2 years ago

I've spent the last few days raging over this simple little problem:

I created hats for Team Fortress 2 before this whole Steam Workshop bit came out. I thought "OH LOVELY! I'll just compile my old hats and submit them using the new and simple Steam Workshop."

But now, when I export my models as .obj, when testing in game, they aren't positioned on the player model correctly as before. I have gone back and tried many different possible solutions... no dice. It seems the closest I get is the hat being in the reasonably right place but rotated all sorts of strange ways.

Does anyone know how to fix this? OR has anyone rigged a hat using the "busts" that valve put out and can help me? (I used to use the full character models to place my hats in 3ds max)

Any help is greatly appreciated.
