Broken Player Models?

By Dazkid33 2 years ago

Hey, there's been something on TF2 that's been bugging me for a while. I think my player models may be broken. They have no animation what-so-ever, besides basic movement. No finger posing, facial animations, nothing. I had just re-installed Steam to see if that would fix anything, but it didn't. Can anyone help me with this? Pics can be provided upon request.

Delete your entire Team Fortress 2 folder and run the game fresh, that should work.

Like I said, already done that. Even deleted the Source packages for the game and it still didn't work.

If I recall/reread correctly, you merely 'reinstalled' the game, you didn't mention physically deleting anything.

But still, you could always give the game cache a once-over and defrag the game files.

Eh, details I forgot to put in, sorry ^_^' I had only recently re-installed TF2 is because Steam was giving me issues, so had to re-install that. Beforehand, in attempt to fix the problem, I had in fact deleted the game's files. I had also defragged the games files, but I guess it won't hurt to try these again.

You might also try deleting the '.gcf' files, it is there that the animations are stored (in fact, deleting anything else seems rather silly to me, unless you have custom animations).

Once this is finished defragging, I'll try that. Everything in TF2 so far is vanilla for now. EDIT Looking at these, I do believe I have deleted these before, at least, the materials .gcf. For some reason, I want to refer to these as Source packages. Need to get rid of that habit. Anyways, which one do you recommend deleting?

All models, materials and sounds are in the 'materials.gcf', odd as it may seem.
