This should certainly improve gameplay showing a very clear example who is on what team.

Wasn't there a lightwarp similar to this that was less eye-sore inducing?

I don't quite catch your drift. Would you care to elaborate?

I am naturally referring to http://gamebanana.com/tf2/skins/118353

On the subject, I tried it out.

I never had a problem identifying the two teams before, but from a distance it's very difficult to judge what class you're looking at. I never had this issue prior to installing the skin, and it does spoil the art direction quite a bit. It doesn't really make the game easier, just uglier...

My question is what goal were you trying to achieve with this?

I was trying something different, this is an experiment more than anything. Also, those are NOT the lightwarps you're referring to. I'm using a modified version of this lightwarp: http://gamebanana.com/tf2/skins/114217

While this MIGHT have been a simple colour overlay, the effort put into the preview and screenshots probably makes up for it.

Edit; I want that scattergun skin.

    I WANT IT

This can make it a bit hard to see what class it is on longer range
