personally, I recommend getting rid of the normal map, I tried to make it like the RB's, but it messed up so...it's crap

also this is one skin you actually did well on, just needs some improvement...any plans for an update?
that's one thing I hate about c models, they share a world and first person view, so you can't make the part of the gun you see in First person all high detailed without messing up the world view...

For one you need some one with a higher Graphics Quality take screen shots, those are terrible looking, I'm sorry, and it seems to be smuged / over sized (splotches and texture over all) Might want to make small textures to fix this
I agree about the LQ texture setting (although its set to high)
and smaller texture?
What I mean is, the over lays you did, are larger to the world models, which is fine, however, the skinning process to do that for viewer models, must be smaller to seal off crappy quality from amazing, now not saying its crappy, but it is a larger texture then you'd think when making them, my suggestion is to play around with the texture size for each bit (not EVERY piece) and see what size suits your needs
Pity c_models are for BOTH view and world models

No such thing as a stupid question, for example:

If that showed up as a simple design, say, those | lines in the middle were the size of your thumb from a distance to your eyes,
it would looked detailed like say, + but from close up its -|- aka its much bigger, less detailed, hence making the texture physically smaller in Photoshop may look more detailed, but you have to do a lot of tweaking and shrinking / planning to to get it to your likes
