haha nothing to be sorry about man, all i did was point out the smoothing errors. as far as some smoothing errors go though, these ones simply are not tiny. i'm glad you don't mind them but the fact remains that many of us do, and as a modder myself i'm just suggesting that nassimo address this issue.

you're judged on every job you do in life. and if you're going to do something, i believe you ought to do it right. but some people will always disagree i guess

@WildBill Okay, I'm sorry I'm not as "advanced with AO maps" as you are, but I still see no reason to be annoyed with it. It's so tiny and when I'm playing, I don't notice it at all because I'm too busy actually playing TF2 and not staring at the triangular shadows. Either way, this issue looks very simple to correct.

lol sonic i ain't trying to come off sounding like a dick or anything, but no, just no.

for starters, yes i see that it's part of the texture. he baked it the AO maps from a model with fucked up smoothing, and that's one of the biggest issues because now you can't simply just smooth the model and be done with it. it's now all merged with all the other texturing, and unless he still has the original PSD or something with the AO layer separate from the others then he'll have to start over from scratch

all i'm saying is that's it's a silly but blatant mistake and ought to be corrected. go to any other well-respected digital art community and you'll see what i'm talking about. smoothing errors are one of those things you learn to fix on an elementary level, in part because they're so easy to fix. it's noobish and sloppy to leave them on, and it yields a poor result

you personally might not mind it, but a lot of people here on fpsb do pay attention to details like that just because it's the way we are. we like to customize things and it throws us off when customization is done sloppily

again, not tryin to sound like a dick lol, just making my point.

That smoothing can be easily fixed since it's just the ao map that did it. Just edit them a little bit and it should look better.

Oh and you could improve it by making some normals. Would make it look so much better.

@WildBill Upon checking, all the shadow errors you pointed out are actually part of the texture.

Not only that, these issues are INSANELY tiny and not noticeable in the slightest when playing. I don't see how they're such a big problem.

    sorry about that. to clarify:

    cartw.th.jpg

you can usually tell smoothing errors by weird triangular shadows on a typically flat surface, or sometimes by diagonal shadows running across a face. the problem is that these errors create weird reactions with light and it's just more of an annoyance and a distraction than anything else i guess

i circled some of the spots i noticed but there could very well be other places i missed. compare those spots on the "before" and "after" pictures and you should see what i'm talking about

it's a great replacement; keeps the tf2 style intact while still giving it those subtle little enhancements (which really do add up)

the only issue is the blatant smoothing errors, and looking at the before/after comparison you can see what i'm talking about.

    • the broken wooden planks on the front
    • the forward-facing part of the wooden steps at the bottom
    • the small vertical metal piece on the side of the cart toward the back, right below the smoke stack thing

there may be more, but you get the point

honestly that's the only thing keeping this sub from being a great sub. fix it up and update this submission and the screenshots and then i'll give it a rating :)

    keep up the good work

I don't know why, but when I get up-close to the cart, I LAG LIKE THE SHIT! What causes this? It's not the resolution I know that, but why do I lag when I look at the cart up-close?

@Reskinner237 When will people like you get it through your thick, dense skulls that I'm NOT trying to troll when I give bad skins low ratings? This is why I think FPSBanana's community is turning insanely stupid: people on here are starting to think that criticism is trolling.
